Most artisanal bars are soap, and soap is alkaline. Ours are formulated to the pH of what they touch: skin or hair, depending on the product.
A liquid product is mostly water. Our bars have no water. What you buy is product.
In no product, now or later. They are harsh detergents: they take your skin’s natural oils along with the dirt. Ours clean deeply, without stripping your natural oils.
They are preservatives that water-based products need in order not to spoil. Our bars have no water, so they do not need them either.
A bar does not need a bottle. It comes in paper, not plastic.
Every product publishes everything it contains, with one line saying what each ingredient does. No fine print.

Your hair sits at a pH between 4.5 and 5.5, on the acidic side. Your skin, including your scalp, sits in a similar range: between 4.1 and 5.8. A soap bar, the kind made with oils and lye, lands between 9 and 10.
When something alkaline touches the hair fiber, the cuticle opens and strands rub against each other more: over time, that shows up as breakage. Something similar happens on skin: alkaline products weaken the acid mantle that protects it.
